John grew up in a Christian home, and his faith became his own during his junior year of high school. He sensed a call to ministry and was a leader/teacher in the youth group at his home church for the three years leading up to college. He met his wife, Dena, during college, but they did not date until he went away to grad school. Being married in the summer of 2013, they now reside in Columbia Heights with their two daughters, Chloe (almost 2) and Makenna (2 months).
For the last five years, John has served as the Pastor of Church Multiplication at Centennial Evangelical Free Church in Forest Lake, Minnesota. He received a degree in Biblical and Theological Studies from the University of Northwestern—St. Paul, and then went on the receive his Masters of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. He is a lifelong learner, and places a great value on team-ministry and collaboration. In addition to his ministry passions, John loves black tea and the occasional cup of black coffee, reading books, and going for walks around the pond in their backyard.
