Dear Friends of the Risen Savior,
“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…” 1 Corinthians 15:3 - 4
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not some nice add-on to the tales of a famous teacher that lived long ago - no, not at all. The Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians that the whole revelation regarding the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus is of first importance for us as believers. The fact is that if Christ has not been raised from the dead our faith is useless and futile. In other words, what good is Christianity if we don’t have a Risen Savior? It all just becomes high-minded thinking with well-meaning self-improvement recommendations. But for those who have received the entire Good News of Jesus Christ, the resurrection proves that what Jesus taught is genuine and real. He wasn’t just saying nice things. He was declaring the truth that sets us free from sin and conquers the power of death. “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” (Hosea 13:14). In Christ our Risen Savior all sin is paid for, death is completely conquered, and Satan is totally defeated. Now that is good news… in fact it is glorious news!
Beloved, don’t let the world, the devil, or your own flesh steal from your heart the joy of knowing the Risen Savior and living in the power of the resurrection. The resurrection of Jesus gives us joy for each day, strength in the darkest hour, and peace in the most turbulent times.
How good it is to declare together, “Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed!” Hallelujah!
With Resurrection Joy,Pastor Fred
